Mr. Nava Chantanasurakon, President of Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Company Limited (SSI), participated in the volunteer activity “The Ministry of Industry Plants Mangroves to Increase Carbon Sequestration and Reduce Global Warming,” held in commemoration of King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great on Nawaminthra Maharaj Day, October 13, 2024. The activity was part of the volunteer initiative “United Industry for Environmental Stewardship.”
The event was presided over by Mr. Aekniti Phromphan, Minister of Industry, and attended by executives from the Ministry, government officials, volunteers from both public and private sectors, students, and local people—over 500 participants in total. Together, they released 83 black crabs and planted 11,565 mangrove saplings, including Sea Poison Trees, Red Mangroves, White Mangroves, Rhizophora, White Beans, and Cerbera odollam with red flowers at Khao Sam Roi Yod National Park, Khao Daeng Subdistrict, Kui Buri District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.
Additionally, SSI set up an exhibition booth at the event, which was honored by a visit from Minister Aekniti Phromphan and his delegation. They looked around the booth and received a briefing on SSI’s environmental initiatives and ongoing sustainability efforts.
