Corporate Social Responsibility Policy
Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Co., Ltd., or SSI, has a policy to conduct business with social responsibility by adhering to business ethic and business operation philosophy which has been shaped to the means to push, drive, develop and grow sustainably. As a part of the society which any social change will definitely affect the Company, the Company therefore realizes that it has duty and responsibility to develop both business and society simultaneously, by emphasis on the community engagement to create better society as well as to preserve, develop and conserve environmental conditions continually.
Occupational Safety, Health, and Working Environment Policy
Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Company Limited manages occupational safety, health, and the working environment in accordance with sound business philosophy and ethical principles. The Company believes in the value of its people and places strong emphasis on ensuring employees’ quality of life by providing a safe, healthy, and hygienic working environment, while concurrently promoting sustainable environmental stewardship.
The Company is committed to establishing and continuously enhancing a systematic occupational safety, health, and working environment management system, with a focus on elevating standards and pursuing continual improvement to be on par with leading steel manufacturers at the international level.
The Company places importance on cultivating awareness and strengthening a safety mindset in occupational safety, health, and the working environment among employees at all levels. Emphasis is given to fostering a strong safety culture, sustainable management practices, and the protection of employees’ health and well-being, including contractors operating within the Company’s premises. These initiatives aim to prevent work-related injuries and occupational illnesses, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel.
The Company effectively implements the Occupational Health and Safety Management System in accordance with ISO 45001 and continuously improves its processes. This approach supports employees’ physical and mental well-being, prevents work-related illnesses, and reinforces confidence in the Company’s sustainable occupational safety, health, and working environment management system.
Result of Corporate Social Responsibility
1.Workforce Planning.
In 2025, Company undertook strategic workforce planning, including the management of manpower allocation and the enhancement of the organisational structure and functional responsibilities of business units to support the growth of the SSI Group. The recruitment process was also improved to ensure the acquisition of personnel aligned with the Company’s business growth plans.
As at 31 December 2025, the Company had a total of 1,098 employees, comprising 99.91% Thai nationals and 0.09% foreign nationals. Of this total, 870 employees were based at the SSI Bang Saphan Steelworks, including 430 employees residing in Bang Saphan District, representing 49.43%.
Across the SSI Group, the total workforce comprised 2,964 employees, of whom 99.69% were Thai nationals and 0.31% were foreign nationals. Of the 2,130 employees working at the Bang Saphan Steelworks, 1,545 were residents of Bang Saphan District, accounting for 72.54% of the total workforce at the facility. The SSI Group remains committed to its policy of employing local people to promote employment opportunities and support sustainable economic development within the community.

Apart from planning workforce by employment, the Company also supported the project on employment of the person with disabilities on social aspect pursuant to Section 35 (of the Persons with Disabilities Empowerment Act, BE 2550) in type of hire employment service, of the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labor. The Company employed 3 persons with disabilities under such project for the supporting works in the public interest service centers in community areas closed to their houses, such as, sub-district health promoting hospital, child center/school, career rehabilitation center for the person with disabilities, service center for the person with disabilities of the municipality and the sub-district administration organization throughout the country. The objectives of such projects are to create employment opportunity for the person with disabilities, so they are able to support their family, rely on themselves, as well as to raise quality of life and reduce social inequality.
2. Human Capital Development.
The Company has personnel’s potential development process which conform to job positions in each level and can support the business growth plan. The Company has continually arranged training courses for employees at all levels to develop the required competency (training needs surveys) and to arrange the courses specified by the laws, such as (1) management courses, (2) working behavior courses, (3) specific work technical courses, (4) productivity enhancement courses, (5) quality-related courses, and (6) occupational health, safety and environment courses. The Company also arranged additional important training courses as follows:
1. Knowledge and skill development courses conforming to business directions and goals, such as Project Kaizen & Kaizen for Innovation
2. Professional ethics curriculum and guidelines for improving efficiency and developing research competence, Training Workshop and Preparation of project proposals under the 200% tax exemption measure courses
3. Energy management system course, such as Methods for Identifying Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs) and Energy Saving Measures (ESMs).
In 2025, the Company has arranged internal training to employees at all levels totaled 196 courses (262 times). The average number of training hours or activities to develop knowledge of the employees was 39.24 hours per person per year from the target of 15 hours per person per year. Besides internal training courses, the Company also encouraged the employees to attend external courses with domestic and overseas institutes to enhance their skills, knowledge, and experiences so that they can effectively apply with their works. Study visits have also been arranged for the employees at the leading and successful companies in the same and different industry.
3. Core Values, Organisational Culture and Employee Engagement.
Emphasize employee engagement through presentation and activities arrangement to make the employees realize the Company’s value which will effectively lead to mutual working culture and behavior. In 2025, survey result on employee engagement level was 83.50 percent, increased from 83.25 percent in 2024.
4. Diversity and Equal Opportunity.
The Company has diversity with regards to gender, age, and religion. Diversity can inspiringly respond to the different needs of stakeholders and changes in the nature of businesses. The Company has specified qualifications for recruitment and human resource development to prepare for equal growth in career path.
5. Employee Well-being.
Employees are the key in driving business to success. The Company pays attention to employee well-being to ensure that they can work happily through arrangement of various activities under Happy Workplace Project, the project to build participatory and good relationship among employees of all levels, and labor-relations activities. The Company has established the welfare committee whose members have been elected as representatives of employees so that they can express opinion equally. At present, there are 19 representative employees.
6. Occupational Safety, Health, and Working Environment
Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Company Limited has continuously managed and enhanced its occupational safety, health, and working environment practices with the objective of fostering awareness among employees and reinforcing the importance of self-care and mutual care among colleagues to ensure safe working practices and prevent work-related accidents. This commitment is implemented through various initiatives, including the Zero Accident Campaign, the Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) program to promote discipline and a strong safety and environmental culture, workplace inspections (Safety Patrols), and employee health surveillance related to exposure to occupational risk factors.
These activities are overseen by the Occupational Safety, Health, and Working Environment Committee, which is responsible for supervising operations, monitoring safety performance, and providing recommendations for safety improvements across all operational areas. With strong cooperation and support from all departments, the Company remains committed to implementing effective measures to achieve a Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) of zero and to prevent occupational diseases among employees on a continuous basis.
The Company’s performance in occupational safety, health and working environment was in line with its established targets. In 2024 and 2025, the Company recorded a Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) of zero (0) per one million working hours. Furthermore, no occupational illnesses among employees have been reported since the commencement of operations. This reflects the Company’s consistent and tangible achievement of its safety targets.
At the Group level, the SSI Group continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to occupational safety, health, and environmental management. The Group emphasizes the continuous development and enhancement of hazard prevention systems, the promotion of accident reduction initiatives, and the cultivation of safety awareness among employees at all levels. In addition, ongoing improvements to work processes are undertaken to further enhance workplace safety, with the ultimate goal of achieving sustainable means toward zero workplace accidents.
7. Occupational Safety, Health, and Working Environment Training.
Training in occupational safety, health, and the working environment is a fundamental component in preventing and reducing workplace accidents and work-related illnesses among employees. Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Company Limited places strong emphasis on the continuous development and enhancement of occupational safety, health, and working environment training programs to ensure that employees at all levels possess adequate knowledge and understanding of workplace hazards, as well as appropriate measures for hazard prevention and control.
In 2025, the Company conducted a total of 22 occupational safety, health, and working environment training courses, comprising 55 training sessions. In addition, the Company regularly reviewed and updated operational standards for all activities to ensure they remain current, effective in hazard control, and practical for implementation by employees in accordance with established requirements.
8. Fire Prevention and Emergency Response.
Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Company Limited has established a systematic approach to emergency preparedness and response in order to effectively manage potential emergencies arising from its operations. This framework covers fire incidents, chemical spills and leaks, abnormalities related to boilers and oxygen storage tanks, as well as natural disasters such as flooding. To ensure effective governance, the Company has established a Factory Fire Prevention and Emergency Response Subcommittee responsible for overseeing, planning, and implementing emergency preparedness and response activities across the plant.
In addition, the Company has arranged insurance coverage that provides protection against natural disasters, including flooding, storms, tsunamis, lightning, earthquakes, and landslides, to mitigate potential losses. Such coverage includes damage to property, business interruption, and losses to goods and products arising from these events. The insurance policy also covers losses resulting from fire incidents in all circumstances.
In 2025, the Company conducted a total of 24 emergency response simulation drills across various areas of the plant to test and strengthen employee readiness and the overall emergency response system. In addition, 88.75% of the Company’s employees completed basic fire-fighting training in accordance with legal requirements.
9. Fair Trade.
The Company is committed to fair treatment of trade competitors by complying with applicable legal provisions, such as the Trade Competition Act B.E. 2560 (2017) and the Prices of Goods and Services Act B.E. 2542 (1999). The Company shall not obtain confidential information about competitors through improper or dishonest means and shall not defame or make adverse accusations against competitors. The Company also collaborates to jointly promote policies that benefit the industry.
Moreover, the Company has played a leading role in establishing the Thailand Iron and Steel Industry Club under the Federation of Thai Industries and the Association of Thai Hot-Rolled Flat Steel, where management from the Company, competitors, and trade partners serve as directors. Joint meetings and activities are regularly organised, including get-together sessions with competitors’ management to strengthen relationships and exchange experiences. The Company is also at the forefront of fostering cooperation among ten domestic steel producer associations, comprising 516 member companies and over 51,000 direct employees, with the goal of strengthening domestic steel producers through collaboration, promotion, and implementation of fair trade and competition policies in coordination with government agencies and other relevant entities. Key measures include anti-dumping actions, measures to counter excessive imports, and initiatives to restructure the industry appropriately, such as suspending or reducing investment incentives or restricting the establishment and expansion of steel plants with production capacity exceeding domestic demand.
10. Joint Development of Community and Society. The Company determined to develop society and community in line with sustainable development principles that support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Company integrates environmental, social and governance (ESG) concepts into its business operations to drive activities in collaboration with communities and society, with the aim of achieving balance, creating shared value, and delivering sustainable benefits to stakeholders. The Company’s initiatives are categorised into three areas: social development, economic development, and environmental development. In 2025, the Company implemented a total of 20 community and social development projects, as follows:
