The Steel Industry for a White
Environment
At SSI, our development in
the steel industry goes hand in hand with development
of our social environment and environment-friendly
policies. Due to our commitment to principles of
good corporate governance and sustainable development,
SSI was granted ISO 14001 certification for environmental
management in 1999. We have demonstrated a consistent
and serious resolve to protect our environment through
investment, management, and awareness-raising policies
that preserve natural resources, save energy, and
control environmental pollution.
Inspecting, Preventing, Promoting, and Complying
Ever since the ground was
broken for construction of our plant, SSI has been
in strict compliance with all the rules, laws, and
standards laid down by the appropriate government
agencies. |
|
 |
|
We have constantly carried out inspections and made
environmental assessment reports, including measurements
of air and water quality, as required by the Office
of Environmental Policy and Planning, under the
Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment.
We carefully dispose of any wastes generated by
the production process and apply rigorous standards
to ensuring that such wastes do not damage the natural
environment or have any detrimental effect upon
public health. To this end, we have installed monitoring
systems to detect sudden leaks or incidents of pollution.
SSI is also a leader in encouraging companies, employees,
and communities to participate in environmental
conservation projects that help maintain our natural
surroundings in their original state, clean and
safe for the enjoyment of future generations.
