SSI received Thai Industrial Standard from the Ministry of Industry.

January
Thai Industrial Standards Institute, the Ministry of Industry, enforced compulsory for
hot-rolled sheet for general and structural uses.

Thai Cold Rolled Steel Sheet Public Co., Ltd. (TCR) increased its share capital from
Baht 3,915 million to Baht 6,180 million. As a result, shareholding by SSI in TCR
diluted from 23.96% to 15.18%.
October
SSI received Thai Industrial Standard no. TIS 528-2540 for hot rolled carbon
flat steel for general and structural uses.
1999
January
SSI established West Coast Engineering Co., Ltd., a 99.99% owned subsidiary, to provide engineering design and supervision services including repair and
maintenance services.
March
Prachuap Port Co., Ltd., a subsidiary, completed its debt restructuring.
June
Thai Coated Steel Sheet Co., Ltd. (TCS) increased its share capital from Baht 600
million to Baht 3,400 million. As a result, shareholding by SSI in TCS diluted from
49% to 8.65%.
SSI established Internal Audit Office with the emphasis on transparency in
conducting its business.
Successful debt restructuring, creating a more viable financial framework, reducing interest burden, and enhancing liquidity. All loans were converted into Baht-denominated debt, which completely reduced outstanding foreign exchange exposure.
November
SSI established the Level 1 American Depositary Receipts (ADR) with a total size of 10 million ADRs. The ADR program allows foreign investors to deposit alien board shares with the Depositary in exchange of USD-denominated ADR at the ratio of 20 shares per 1 ADR and trade them over-the-counter.
December
In accordance to capital restructuring plan, SSI issued 1,080 million new ordinary
shares to West Coast Engineering Co., Ltd. at the price of Baht 0.01 per share. This
plan enabled SSI to write off a significant amount of its retained deficit and improve its capital structure.
SSI was awarded ISO 14001 certification for environmental management system standards from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Limited.
2000
June
SSI received Clean Technology certificate from Department of Industrial Works.
September
SSI was granted The Prime Minister's Industry Award 2000 for Productivity Improvement.
December
SSI received Japanese Industrial Standard for hot rolled steel product (JIS G3101,
JIS G3106, JIS G3131).
2001
May
SSI received The Prime Minister's Industry Award 2001 for Environmental Management.
SSI received The National Award in Safety, Occupational Health, and Workplace Environment.

SSI received The 2000 Award for the Outstanding Energy Conservation Factory.
Thai Cold Rolled Steel Sheet Public Co., Ltd. (TCR) increased its share capital from
Baht 6,180 million to Baht 10,703 million. As a result, shareholding by SSI in TCR diluted
from 15.18% to 8.77%.

SSI received Thai Industrial Standard no. TIS 1479-2541 for hot rolled carbon flat steel for general structure.
SSI received Thai Industrial Standard no. TIS 1499-2541 for hot rolled carbon flat
steel for weld structure.
SSI received Thai Industrial Standard no. TIS 1735-2542 for hot rolled carbon flat
steel for pipe and tube products

Thai Coated Steel Sheet Co., Ltd. (TCS) increased its share capital from Baht 3,400
million to Baht 4,756.9 million. As a result, shareholding by SSI in TCS diluted from
8.65% to 3.70%.
2002

SSI received ISO 18001 certificate.

SSI won The National Awards in Safety, Occupational Health, and Workplace
Environment 2002 for the 2nd year in a row.
